Halftime

And a much-needed one at that.

My tilt is to the point where I really think I need mental game coaching, and if possible I'll get it from Jared Tendler of stoxpoker. I think he charges about 250/hour, but from what I've heard about him I wouldn't mind paying even more. Or rather I wouldn't be surprised if he was worth more. Plain and simple, I need coaching in that area. I won't be able to sustain myself as a professional or amateur poker player if I don't fix this problem, and I need to do it soon. For the last few months I wasn't tilting at all, but that was mostly because I was running so good, and didn't really see any bad runs, so obviously I had nothing to tilt about.

I mean I'm running semi-badly through the 14k hands I've played this month, and I can't even begin to imagine running badly through a sample like 50k hands. I just couldn't handle it. Coaching from someone who's dealt with Leatherass who plays five hundred million hands a month can't hurt.

So, my goals for the rest of the month are to keep plugging away with the hands, get coaching from Jared if possible, and generally try to control my tilt.

One thing that should help is that I found a boxing gym really close to my house. I haven't fully looked into their programs but that should relieve tons of stress and get me healthier in general.

GL with the tilt control. Poker is a scary crazy game that can just destroy you mentally. I can see why poker players like golf, its the same psychological struggle in motion where one small thing can destroy the entire organism.

You gave me the advice to play through it and not even think about the variance and bad stretches and get the hands in ... it's helped me so far.

One thing that has helped me is remember perspective and not forgetting to take a breath. I mean at the end of Sept my best friend's mom died (1 month before their wedding), my wife lost her job, my grandfather got very sick, I lost a client at work ... and so losing "5 buyins at poker" became a trivial joke by the bigger picture perspective.

Think about the bigger picture and how poker will be in your life at least over the next few years. You *know* you're going to get through it and you know you'll be making more money than 99% of the people you know your age I'm guessing.

Chin up bud, and punch that darn punching bag.

Yeah Chuck, I've just had a 40k hand d/swong (20 buy ins) and it hurts. But at the end of it all, I just look at it that I'm still a winning player (barely, LOL) and that the good times are just around the corner.

Keep plugging away, and try to make the correct decisions, it will turn for you soon my friend.

I'm sure you will come around real soon Chuck, just keep playing (or breaking if you truly are tilting and making spewy plays). The tilt control coaching is an interesting idea and something that I might actually be interested in as well. I don't really tilt anymore as in making bad decisions, but I do still get extremely angry over losing occasionally. Let me know how it goes if you do end up getting the coaching.

Hey Chuck, good move bud by pin pointing your weakness and wanting to get it sorted i expect at 200nl tilting can cost alot of money if it gets outta hand so better to nail it now then earn back the money you spend on coaching!
Also wana cross link dont think i have you ?
